Researchers have been puzzled by the features of the hog deer at Keibul Lamjao National Park in Manipur - it is larger in size and with bigger antlers, compared to the hog deer usually found India. Now, after conducting genetic sampling of hog deer populations, researchers from Wildlife Institute of India have found that KLNP hog deer population is infact another subspecies - the eastern hog deer - which, so far, was believed to be found only in southeast Asia. https://india.mongabay.com/2019/02
