New update from the cellar: today I started turning the PVC foam sheets for the cabin top into real composite panels. First I cut the shapes on my homemade CNC machine, then I laid fiberglass over the foam, added peel ply and set up the vacuum bag. The vacuum sucks out the excess epoxy and pulls everything tight so the panel becomes light, strong and ready for the ocean. Once these cure, they’ll go straight onto the boat deck frame.
