Tom of Finland’s, playful, hyper-masculine drawings provided the template for a proudly gay esthetic in the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s. Called Tom’s Men, the characters he created in his illustrations and comics inspired fans to challenge outdated stereotypes. The Tom of Finland bookends celebrate Tom’s most iconic figures, the ultimate leatherman and the robust Finnish working man.
