It's cool to watch the Precipitable Water map in motion as it basically shows atmospheric moisture. The brown to the north is the really dry air coming in for the weekend. Those reds and especially purple areas to the south are where there is the potential for heavy to torrential downpours. This video from the NAM model goes from 4 PM today to 8 PM Friday: | My Personal Weatherman

Total precipitable water (a measure of water vapor in a vertical column of the atmosphere) is a great indicator of precipitation potential. You can see abundant moisture streaming into W WA in the form of an atmospheric river, which will form Friday into next week. 🌧️ For those unfamiliar with precipitable water, this animation is displaying liquid precipitation potential from 4 PM Thursday through 4 AM next Wednesday. The higher the values, the greater rainfall intensity & precipitation potent

The rain has arrived! Check out the current precipitable water (PW) animation below. PW is a measure of how much moisture is in the air above a location. It will be a soggy start to the week with periods of heavy rain expected through Tuesday. Precipitable Water (GFS) model showing plenty of atmospheric water (tropical juice) over South TX now through the next week. This model shows that trend continuing in the short-range, mid-range, and long-range. For now, it’s safe to say we’ll have chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms across South Texas through this weekend and likely the start of next week. Hope we continue to get some much needed rain across the region. 08/28/2024 | South Texas Weather Updates

Precipitable Water (PW) is the amount of moisture in the atmosphere. This is one factor we look at while forecasting the chance of thunderstorms. The animation below is showing the PW lowering (lighter color) throughout the day today which will result in lower storm coverage this afternoon and evening. | US National Weather Service Tampa Bay Florida

GFS precipitable water map showing Rafael. Gives idea where we could see some heavier rains even with the skirt. Reds/Purples show lots of moisture in the air that could fall for someone. www.spaghettimodels.com | Mike's Weather Page

Precipitable Water maps are neat. They show moisture in the atmosphere. Yellow/Red means extra extra moist. Flow the next week here showing the rainy season returns for many across the SE. And that big surge of purple midweek next week might reach lower Texas. It is part of a Tropical Wave a couple ensemble models tried to spin up. www.spaghettimodels.com | Mike's Weather Page

You can now see the new maps of precipitable water 💦 and atmospheric rivers in the map viewer. We see how the river arrives and coils around the #StormOscar, over the Azores, driving warm and humid air towards the Iberian Peninsula. 🗺️👀 https://www.meteored.com/ | Meteored

EURO precipitable water map. Shows moisture flow. Reds/Purples can bring quick heavy rains. But this crazy thing has been showing. And on the GFS/CMC too. Moisture pulls north, east, then back towards the Gulf next week. Loopy Loop of rains and core of 93. | Mike's Weather Page

Precipitable Water values tell the story! This video goes from 2 PM tomorrow to 2 PM Sunday. Crazy humidity with some thunderstorms at times from tomorrow afternoon into Thursday evening, and then the cold front comes through pretty uneventful Friday morning/afternoon with decreasing humidity. Beautiful on Saturday with low humidity for most of the northeast, and then another system brings humidity and showers and thunderstorms on Sunday. | My Personal Weatherman

Precipitable water map through Friday AM. Red shows the moisture in the atmosphere. Heaviest heads towards upper Florida. Things start to dry out later tomorrow. NHC watching this and marks it at a 50% chance for weaker Mindy. Front sneaking in on the upper Gulf for the weekend meaning some cooler drier air. Lower 60s Fri/Sat for many... maybe even the tip of FLA. Are you ready? Mikes Weather Page: www.spaghettimodels.com Drunk Donkey shirts & more: bit.ly/3wyEtlR Support MWP with perks: bit.ly/

Latest EURO precipitable water map. Follow the red. That is moisture in the air. Dexter leaving behind a string of juice. NHC watching for a spin-up off the SE coast this week. Some leftovers extend towards the Gulf that might get marked soon. Middle Atlantic wave NHC is watching following Dexter's path. Then new African wave slides more west. This map runs the next 10 days. Also seeing Atlantic looking more juicy towards middle/end month. Just a general idea. Tropics in a nutshell. www.spaghett

Precipitable Water Map here. Red means lots of Tropical juice. This is flowing up towards the Florida peninsula now and will the next few days. It helps bring rains. Not all day. Just randomly here and there. Heaviest still seems i-4'ish south. High builds in over the weekend and this surge then heads up towards the upper Gulf Sun/Mon. www.spaghettimodels.com | Mike's Weather Page

Thursday AM precipitable water map here. Alberto moving west. Invest 92 east of Florida interesting. Spinning in the atmosphere for sure. Pressures still high. Likely barely a day before any landfall in northern Florida or even little north. Warm Gulf Stream and light wind shear will give it a little window against the models, which all pretty much say nothing will develop. www.spaghettimodels.com | Mike's Weather Page
