At least 11 people were killed in flooding that swept vehicles off the road and led to dozens of high-water rescues, authorities in San Antonio said Friday.
The abrupt closure comes after the city experienced record-breaking rainfall in the morning hours on Thursday. Between 3 and 8 inches of rain occurred in Bexar County, according to the National Weather Service. The heavy rains blanketed the region, causing power outages, high-water rescues and at least four fatalities.
With heavy rain pouring in overnight and throughout Thursday afternoon, Bexar County, the City of Live Oak, the City of Converse announced park closures due to weather and flooding.

Beaumont Enterprise on MSNFlash flood warning issued for parts of Southeast TexasParts of Jefferson, Jasper, Hardin and Orange counties are under a flash flood warning. The warning was issued at 12:23 p.m. Friday and is expected to last until 3:30 p.m., the Southeast Texas Alerting Network said.
