President Trump signed an executive order aimed at protecting college athletes and athletic scholarships. The order seeks to expand opportunities for women's and non-revenue sports, prohibit third-party pay-for-play, and preserve the educational aspect of college sports.

Trump released the executive order amid a turbulent time in college athletics. The House settlement went into effect July 1 to attempt to provide a path forward with revenue sharing, but plenty remains unanswered to where many in the sport have argued the importance of congressional action and help from Washington.

Ex-Alabama coach Nick Saban said the new executive order signed by President Trump is a "huge step" in creating of more opportunities for players.
