The transportation secretary admitted to redirecting his wife through New York's LaGuardia airport but said it was because of Newark’s reliability, not safety.

Transportation Sean Duffy said his remarks on a recent SiriusXM show were taken out of context, and that he moved his wife's flight because of delays, not safety.

The move is in response to equipment failures and staff shortages that caused hourslong flight delays in recent weeks.
