Kenny Pickett has been viewed as the No. 2 contender for the job. Both Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel are also working to earn playing time in their rookie seasons. Unfortunately for Pickett, he suffered a hamstring injury that has forced him off the field.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski recently said that he liked what he saw from Pickett during the first block of training camp practices that included extensive time with the Browns' first-team offense. Stefanski specifically lauded Pickett's mobility, an ability that could give him an edge over the 40-year-old Flacco.

The injured quarterback's frustration was evident as he discussed missing critical practice reps, while coaches have told him his running ability — his key differentiator against Joe Flacco — must be shelved.
