President Donald Trump addressed CBS’ shocking decision to cancel The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, seemingly suggesting that other late night hosts should get a similar treatment – namely his longtime critic, Jimmy Kimmel.

Jimmy Kimmel didn’t hold back after news broke that The Late Show With Stephen Colbert will end in May 2026. On Thursday evening, just hours after CBS confirmed the cancellation, Kimmel posted a full-hearted and pointed Instagram Story that voiced his support for Colbert while taking a direct jab at the network behind the decision.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Daily Show, which is hosted on Monday nights by Jon Stewart, will compete in the category after also fending off competition from upstarts such as buzzy YouTube show Hot Ones and Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney.
