The Trump administration announced it has launched an investigation into whether schools in Maine are violating federal law by continuing to allow transgender athletes to compete in high school sports against biological women.

Students and teachers at Greely High School in Cumberland returned from vacation Monday to find an increased police presence on campus. The added security comes in response to concerns following a controversial social media post by State Representative Laurel Libby,
