OpenAI’s head of ChatGPT testified in Google’s antitrust case that the company would be interested in buying the Chrome web browser if Alphabet is forced to spin it off. OpenAI has its own search product but has struggled with distribution;

Purchase likened to ‘Exxon acquiring an untapped oil field with the drilling already done. Just turn on the tap and the good stuff starts flowing.’

An OpenAI executive confirmed that it would buy Chrome if Google were forced to sell the browser. But it has interesting plans for the app.
