Major League Baseball has found a new way to honor the game's best players and create a new collectable in the process. Beginning this season, the league is bestowing a gold MLB patch on the jerseys of the reigning MVP,

MLB has announced that six players will wear a special gold patch on their jersey during the upcoming baseball season.

Reigning National League MVP Shohei Ohtani and five other players — winners of Cy Young Award and Rookie of the Year in each league — will wear a gold patch on their uniform during the 2025 season to signify the accomplishment.

Shohei Ohtani goes for his third straight MVP award, while Bobby Whit Jr earns his first and the Red Sox new ace takes home a Cy Young.
