Update: Canyon Fire in Ventura County at nearly full containment
Canyon Fire initially started 1:25 p.m. Aug. 7 in Los Angeles, Ventura County, California. Since its discovery six days ago, it has burned 5,370 acres. A fire crew of 960 has been working on site and, as of Wednesday morning, they managed to contain 97% of the fire. However, the cause is still being investigated.
The blaze had stopped growing at 5,370 acres as it burned near Castaic and the Los Angeles and Ventura county line.
Fire officials say the blaze is threatening power lines as well as the communities of Hasley Canyon and Hathaway Ranch.
