Jones signed a two-year, $8.4 million deal in the offseason to be Purdy’s backup and has certainly outplayed that contract so far. He’s shown that he could potentially be a starter once again in the NFL. So, it’s no surprise that Jones is getting some interest around the NFL, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Purdy returns as the starter Sunday when the 49ers (6-4) visit the Arizona Cardinals (3-6) at State Farm Stadium (Fox, 1:05 p.m.). He’s missed the last six games with turf toe and two others before that, during which time the 49ers were 5-3. You’d be hard-pressed to find much fault with Jones even in the three losses.
