Two people were killed in New Jersey during flash flooding as severe storms lashed the New York City area on Monday night into Tuesday, submerging cars and flooding subway stations.

Governor Phil Murphy still enforced a state of emergency in New Jersey. Social media circulated videos showing vehicles still partially submerged in some parts of the states. Residents began cleaning flood-damaged cars.
