U.S. President Donald Trump is heading to central Texas on Friday to survey damage from the July 4 flash flood that killed at least 120 people and left dozens more missing. His visit comes amid intense focus on the government response a week after the storm and as thousands of first responders comb through muddy debris,

Even before the Central Texas floods that killed more than 100 people, the state was by far the leader in U.S. flood deaths due partly to geography that can funnel rainwater into deadly deluges, according to a study spanning decades.

The Salvation Army is continuing to clean debris, search for lost items and provide essential services to those affected.

The threat of heavy rain is “slight” for this weekend, but with the ground fully saturated in Kerr County, even small amounts of rainfall could cause flooding.

A level 2/4 flash flood threat is in effect through Sunday across south central Texas. Already saturated ground from the deadly July 4th flooding could lead to renewed flash flooding, if enough rain falls.
