Denny’s, the popular American diner chain, has reportedly joined a growing number of restaurants responding to the nationwide egg shortage by adding a temporary surcharge to its egg-based meals at some locations.

As the cost of eggs continues to soar, national restaurant chain Denny’s says it is adding a surcharge for dishes served with eggs. According to Today, Denny’s confirmed the move earlier this week, blaming the decision on rising costs amid the ongoing egg shortage.

Management at Denny's locations in Clive and Davenport confirmed to the Register on Tuesday that their establishment had implemented a $0.50 surcharge on every plate a customer orders that contains eggs. They didn't say how long the surcharge will remain in effect.
