The rare winter storm that is hitting the southern portion of the United States became historic Tuesday morning when the Lake Charles National Weather Service office issued its first-ever blizzard warning.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The Lake Charles Regional Airport is now open. Commercial flights will resume Thursday afternoon, according to the airport’s Facebook. Their primary runway is open, and their secondary runway should open later today. The airport was closed due to snow and ice covering the taxiways after the snowstorm.
