PAUL - During the Minnesota Wild's game against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday, Matt Boldy tied a Wild record. Boldy, 23, notched his 15 career three-point game and tied Marian Gaborik for the most by a Minnesota skater before the age of 24.

Minnesota Wild star Kirill Kaprizov needs surgery on the lingering lower-body injury he recently returned from and will be sidelined for at least a month.

The Chicago Blackhawks had their comeback against the Minnesota Wild come up just short despite a good third period.

The Minnesota Wild have been better on the road this season and they have another chance to show why on Wednesday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

On their seventh try, they finally eluded Blackhawks goalie Petr Mrazek 5 minutes, 43 seconds into the first period when Spurgeon sent the puck past Mrazek’s blocker after a 4-on-2 rush for the Wild. Marco Rossi factored into the play to pick up an assist on the Wild’s past four goals, tying a team record for the second time this season.

Jared Spurgeon put the Wild up 1-0 at 5:43 of the first period, taking a pass in the slot from Boldy and putting the puck past the stick side of Mrazek. Frederick Gaudreau made it 2-0 at 7:17, when his shot from the bottom of the right face-off circle got past Mrazek on the short side.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild were meeting in tumultuous times. Both teams had lost their previous two games, with Minnesota losing 5-4 to the Calgary Flames the night before.

It wasn't an overly convincing win, but the Wild got the job done against one of the worst teams in the NHL on Sunday evening. They started hot, then held on and were able to avoid blowing a 3-0 lead in a 4-2 road victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.

The news coming from the Minnesota Wild today isn't great, as their superstar Kirill Kaprizov has reportedly suffered an injury setback and will require surgery.
