The Bengals were forced to send Jenkins to injured reserve on Friday as part of roster moves that help make room for names like Stewart. Jenkins suffered an ankle injury during the Week 15 game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Stewart (knee) was activated from the injured reserve list Friday and has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Dolphins.
While the Bengals are already eliminated from postseason contention, the team will be getting some defensive reinforcement for the stretch run. According to ESPN’s Ben Baby, defensive end Shemar Stewart will be activated from injured reserve for this weekend’s game against the Dolphins.
The Bengals cleared Stewart to return to practice before Week 15, opening his 21-day return window. While he didn’t suit up against the Baltimore Ravens, Stewart was a full participant in practice on the first day of work before the Week 16 game against the Miami Dolphins. Bengals coaches like Zac Taylor like what they're seeing from Stewart, too.
A roster spot opened Thursday when Trey Hendrickson went on injured reserve following core muscle surgery, and Stewart could slot into that if deemed ready.
