Cristopher Sánchez pitched eight sparkling innings, Kyle Schwarber hit his 38th homer and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Detroit Tigers 2-0.

Sánchez dazzled again, slicing and dicing the Tigers’ righty-heavy lineup with his sinker and signature changeup. He scattered five hits, struck out six batters, and lasted eight innings to lower his ERA to 2.40.

The Phillies' star 28-year-old left-hander just keeps on getting better. Cristopher Sánchez is a legitimate Cy Young candidate.

Sporting some impressive numbers and a 2.55 ERA, the lefty has been very good for the Phillies for the last three years. He got the game going by striking out Matt Vierling swinging on three pitches.

Charlie Morton pitched six innings of one-run ball in his Detroit Tigers debut, but offense had no answer for Cristopher Sanchez and Phillies defense.

The 41-year-old Morton, pairing a firm four-seam fastball with his signature curveball, was outstanding. He allowed a run on four hits with six strikeouts.

The Phillies win 2-0 to take the series against the Tigers.
