An encouraging 64-win season for the Cleveland Cavaliers ended in a disappointing second straight semifinal round exit, despite the 2024-25 vintage of the team wielding homecourt advantage against the fourth-seeded Indiana Pacers this spring.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Cleveland Cavaliers haven’t had ‘substantive conversations’ with Orlando regarding a Garland trade. Furthermore, Cleveland has “little interest” in helping out an Eastern Conference contender by trading Garland to them.

The Suns have to maximize the 29th pick of the 2025 NBA Draft, as this is a chance for them to infuse the roster with young talent.

There are a few caveats to that second round playoff defeat. For one, two-time All-Star Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland was struggling with a left great toe injury that caused him to miss the first two games of the Pacers series, and limited his effectiveness when he did return to the floor for Game 3.
