Jason Momoa is switching back into Dune mode. The Aquaman actor, who's known for his bushy beard, shared a video of himself buzzing off his facial hair, as he prepares to film the third installment of the franchise. As fans of the sci-fi movies know, Momoa looks quite different with a clean-shaven face. He, for one, is not a fan.

With Dune 3 already on the 2026 movie release calendar for a December premiere, filmmaker Denis Villeneuve and the cast are getting started on filming the exciting sequel. Jason Momoa is among the returning cast, and he just filmed himself shaving his iconic beard to get ready to play Duncan Idaho again. Spoiler alert: he prefers facial hair.

“God damn it, I hate it,” Momoa quipped in an Instagram reel posted on Wednesday. The “Game of Thrones” actor transformed his entire look as a “kick-off” to reprise his role as Duncan Idaho in “Dune Messiah,” which was announced as the third and final film in the eight-time Oscar-winning sci-fi series.
