Texas quarterback Arch Manning's first career road start at reigning national champion Ohio State did not go as planned during the Longhorns' 14-7 loss to the Buckeyes in Week 1.

Texas quarterback Arch Manning wasn’t satisfied with his underwhelming performance in Saturday’s season opener against Ohio State. The new starter completed 17-of-30 passes for 170 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the 14-7 loss.

Ohio State’s season opener against Texas was supposed to be a coming out party, only it wasn’t supposed to be about the Buckeyes. It was supposed to be about the Longhorns and they new quarterback Arch Manning officially starting his Heisman Trophy campaign while his team validated the thoughts that they were the nation’s best team to start the season.

Ohio State took the No. 1 ranking away from Texas with its win as the Longhorns fell to No. 7. But Alabama had the biggest fall, dropping 13 spots to No. 21 following its loss to Florida State.

Ohio State jumped to the top spot in the odds to win the national title after beating Texas in Week 1. The Longhorns are still in the mix.
