Exit poll results for the ninth nationwide local elections and parliamentary by-elections will be released at 6 p.m. sharp on Wednesday, immediately after polls close, while the first vote-counting results are expected later in the evening.
"Flipped seat" denotes a race where the 2020 projected winner is from a different party than the previous winner or incumbent. Both Maine and Nebraska allow electoral votes to be split. In Maine, two of four electoral votes go to the statewide winner and one electoral vote goes to the winner in each of the two congressional districts.
A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a state law banning exit polling within 100 feet of a polling site, ruling the law is constitutional and further amendment of the lawsuit would be futile.
