The "Gossip Girl" and "Harriet the Spy" alum, who rose to fame as a child star, was found dead in New York City on Wednesday, according to police.

The actress, who died at age 39, made her feature debut in the 1996 movie, with filmmaker Bronwen Hughes telling The Hollywood Reporter, "She never had a false note."

The outlet reports that she had undergone a liver transplant recently and is believed to have died from natural causes. She was 39.
