Texas A&M maintained its standing in the top three after a comeback win over South Carolina, while Texas Tech moved up two spots to No. 6. Oklahoma is also in the top 10 after its upset of Alabama. Meanwhile, Texas fell to No. 17 after its stumble on the road at Georgia.
Six teams in the AP Top 25 lost in Week 12, including two from the ACC and two from the SEC. Several others escaped upsets.
Saturday afternoon the Alabama Crimson Tide hosted the Oklahoma Sooners at Bryant-Denny Stadium for a top 15 battle. Alabama lost 23-21 despite holding Oklahoma’s captain and quarterback John Mateer to just 138 yards passing. Now the Crimson Tide hold a record of 8-2, with an SEC conference record of 6-1 with just one conference game remaining.
The Hoosiers are one of five Big Ten teams ranked inside the AP's updated top 20, anchored by top-ranked Ohio State. The SEC leads all conferences with nine teams in the latest AP Top 25.

No. 1 Houston leapfrogs Purdue in AP Top 25 despite fewer first-place votes; Arizona up to No. 5
Houston was No. 1 in the poll released Monday, swapping spots with Purdue by earning three more points overall. The Cougars received 18 first-place votes from a 61-person media panel and Purdue had 36, with four other teams also getting at least one.

One of the risers into the top five was Duke. The Blue Devils jumped two spots to No. 4 after a win over Texas in the first game of the Cameron Boozer era. UConn moved up one spot to No. 3 after blowout wins over New Haven and UMass Lowell to open the season.
