The new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is now the fastest American car around the famed Nurburgring race track. Mustang GTD fans have been reeling since Chevy announced its top models both toppled Ford's 7-minute-52-second lap time around the 12.

Chevy took it personally when the Mustang GTD became the first American car to break the 7-minute barrier at the Nurburgring.

The Corvette ZR1 and ZRX both proved faster than the Mustang GTD at the Ring. ZR1X prices are TBC but estimated at $200k, the ZR1 is $178k and the GTD $328k. The regular non-hybrid ZR1 also outperformed Porsche’s $254k 911 GT3 RS.
