The four deceased labourers are among the nine workers trapped inside the coal mine in Umrangsu on Monday after a sudden gush of water flooded the quarry.

The death toll in Assam’s Umrangso coal mine tragedy has risen to four, with five miners still missing. Rescue teams recovered three more bodies on January 11, including that of 27-year-old Ligen Magar from Dima Hasao.

With the latest discovery of bodies, the total number reached four, with the first one taken out from the mine on Wednesday.
